September 11, 2026 – Meadowbrook PTO Meeting Minutes

  • Jessica Saavedra
    • Welcome and opening meeting to discuss the Bingo night and Muddy Boots excursion
  • Bingo Night – Either September 24th or October 1st, depending on school availability.  Jen to confirm.
    • Teacher-led (Jen and Jill) with parent help
    • Located in the Multipurpose Room at SES
    • Potluck dinner/dessert @5:30 moving to Bingo @ 6
      • Drinks – not usually provided – BYO water bottle – Possibly create water bottle sign -up?
    • Prize Table – parent donations, someone to canvass downtown Snoqualmie/North Bend merchants for donations
    • Need to purchase more Bingo cards and dot markers
    • Tablecloths for easy clean-up – Jen has 1 partial box, maybe need more.
    • Jen has sign-up genius for parents from last year; she will find and update
    • 5:00 set-up – parent/student help
    • PTO budget for $200
  • Report from the Treasurer – Hillary Finnegan
    • Goal of the PTO
      • To help fund school field trips and events
    • Field trips
      • Bus prices are going up, requiring more PTO funds per field trip
      • Usually we ask for $5 per child from each family per field trip
      • Try to pick field trips that are close for less bus time – teacher’s choice
      • Possibility of parents driving their children for field trip
      • Parent-led field trips on a Friday
    • We typically fundraise through:
      • Sports event tickets – Mariners, Thunderbirds, Sounders ($4 per ticket to PTO)
      • Brown Bear Car Wash tickets ($10 per ticket to PTO
      • We did See’s candies last year; waiting on a usuable check to arrive – current check made out to SMS, not us
    • $2600 is current bank account balance
      • Waiting on See’s check ($500)
      • We have money for this year’s field trips
    • Muddy Boots is not a fundraiser, just a social event
    • If anyone has any fundraising ideas, we are open
    • Should we find something other than See’s for before Christmas because of the hassle to get the check
      • Chukar’s Cherries – local, potentially gives 50% back
      • Equal Exchange
      • Local companies who produce school gear with funds donated to PTO
        • Black Horse Ink
  • School colors and mascot
    • Taken over by Connor
    • Finalizing and they will let us know soon what they are
    • Hasn’t been through school board?
  • Yearbook has also funds for PTO from the yearbook company
    • It can be a bigger fundraiser if we want
  • We (PTO) are also a tax deductible charity for donations
    • Membership is $25/family – counts as a donation
    • Venmo or cash is easiest
    • Zeffy – a company for 401c’s to process payments without fees and allows for higher donations and corporate matching.
  • 5th grade camp – Camp Seymour
    • Budget was cut so it is fundraised for by PTA and parents pay.
    • Possible to join another school that is going, but might be difficult because we are a separate school not affiliated with another school
    • YMCA ropes course in Preston
    • Parent help to coordinate?
    • Mr Meisberger has done a few orienteering classes, etc.
    • Lock-in? – logistics hard – school nurse has to be present for an overnight
    • Has to go through Leah
    • Parent led?
      • Family camp-outs? – by grade or just 5th grade
    • 10 5th graders this year, check with Leah to join SES
      • $350 per student from families
    • Camp Wascowitz – day camp
      • District used to send 4th graders
    • Girl Scout Camp in Carnation – Camp River Ranch
      • Book group sites and will do activities with kids
      • Anyone can rent
  • How can families communicate with each other?
    • PTO send a link and parents opt-in – Signal, What’s App, Discord
    • Set it for different channels, chats or general pages
    • Before Bingo Night
    • Kayla Dalle – Volunteered to set-up – Kayladalle@gmail.com
    • Hillary now in charge of What’s App
    • Stephanie – Signal is maybe best, non-profit and completely private and free
  • Website
    • Kayla Dalle to look at it. – I can give her access
  • Directory Possibility
    • We might be allowed to do it ourselves
    • QR Code at an event to get people to add parent info
    • Anisa created a google form linked on the website
    • Everyone has to opt-in every year
  • Sara – Dates from last year
    • Muddy Boots – 2 years – pumpkin patch in Duvall
      • Paid for a firepit – 5-7pm
    • Everything else is paid for by parents
    • Sept/Oct – Bingo
    • Harvest parites inside class
    • November take a break
    • December – Sno-king skating & gingerbread making party in MBR
    • January – Carnival last year, not happening this year due to no Leadership Class – If PTO wants to do it
    • February – mid-winter break valentiens in school

    • April – Mariners game and Sounders game
    • May/June Field Day
  • Do we need social chairs
    • Secondary – Hoping all teachers will contribute to 1 party
      • Nice for parent support, but not high priority
      Elementary – Parent volunteer social chair to coordinate outings
      • Pumpkin field trip – Parent-led
    • Jill would like to have a board game night
    • PTO reserving the building there is a fee, teachers can reserve for free
    • Ice Cream social
    • Move showcase to March or April?
    • Talent Show

Meeting Minutes:

  • Funding raising $370 – 57 tickets (Sat Mariners game).
  • Brown Bear tickets sold all 150 tickets.
    • Ordered 50 more tickets. $2.50 to order
    • Possible signup on Spring Showcase
  • Mariners PTO notification in ParentSquare
    • Yearbook/Leadership class to make the flyer
    • Mariner’s Game September 13th
  • Add PTO corner for ParentSquare for communications
  • Lacy was voted as Secretary.

Spring Showcase – ice cream social party

                Honors Student will be handing out ice cream for volunteer hours

$200 for secondary snow cone social – school will cover

Sarah has a friend who will be donating the use of a popcorn and cotton candy machine.  The PTO will pay for the floss and popcorn kernels/butter supplies.

Jackie will be meeting at SMS on the May 31st to move everything for the Field Day to SES.
